Natural biofilms are ubiquitous in aquatic environments and play key roles in the cycling of several elements, including metals. My studies focus on these biofilms, or periphyton, and their implications in the distribution, transformation and transmission of metals with a particular interest in mercury. My research mainly occurs in aquatic systems affected by hydroelectric constructions, but also in natural lakes of the Canadian Shield.
