Biography

My thesis is entitled “Effects of climate change on northern greening, permafrost degradation, water level decline and contaminant release in the Kangiqsualujjuaq region, Nunavik.”
In this work, I collaborate with the Inuit community of Kangiqsualujjuaq to study how climate change is affecting the northern territory. I focus on key processes such as northern greening, permafrost degradation, declining water levels, and the release of contaminants.
A central part of my study is dedicated to metal pollution in the George and Koroc River watersheds, with particular emphasis on mercury (Hg), methylmercury (MeHg), and rare earth elements (REEs). The results of my research are important for land management and will help establish background concentrations before the opening of the Strange Lake mine.
